Citronic CD4 Dual CD Player Price
£629.99

This has been quite a reliable CD player, mine is fitted in a 6U carpet case with the mixer and amp, making it easy to move about and fast to set up. It comes in two parts a 2U 19" controller and 2U 19" player. It has a load more features than I actually use, so I guess I could have gone for the lower end CD2. The latest model has a white finish.
Citronic CDM 10:4 Mixer Price
£319.99

This is quite a neat little mixer, it has a booth output which is handy for driving lighting systems - controlling the level from the main mixer panel. It can take a max of 10 inputs (2 mic and 4 switchable banks of 2). Again mine is fitted in a 6U carpet case with the CD player and amp. The latest models are all plain white which looks a little amateurish.
Citronic 6U Carpet Case Price
£129.99

This is what holds the audio stuff together. The picture shows the latest version of the CD2 player and 10:4 mixer (finished in white) in a 4U case. The 6U case has another 2U space beneath the CD player - I use this to mount the amp. With the lid on (not shown) the case is a complete cube so it can be stacked away.

Note: the case doesn't include the CD player or mixer.
CAVS Digital Jukebox JB-99 Price
£1,495.00

This is a multi-functional CD Player designed to meet the demands of KJ's. 3 Players in one, combining the functions of a traditional disc player, playing Audio CD, CD+Graphics and Video CD, a 3 Disc Changer and a Hard drive storing up to 12000 tracks in MP3 + GRAPHICS format with Superimpose function.

Considering the price of portable mp3 players (iPod, Zen etc) this is quite an expensive unit, with software that appears to be an after thought and probably written over the weekend. The easiest way to load karaoke tracks is buying them pre-installed, however, these are stored as mp3 and a proprietary graphics format - meaning you can't transfer them to normal karaoke cd's and back (ie no backup discs). Even downloaded tracks from the CAVS website are in the same proprietary format. The only solution is using original karaoke cd's loaded on to the CAVS unit, there's several ways to do this:

1) Direct CD copy - takes forever using the units serial pc link.
2) Rip to a PC and create loading "data discs" - this only seems to work using a JB99 external CD drive and then you can only have 100 tracks per "data discs" (120 needed if you go for the full 12000 tracks), and finally
3) Direct hard disc copy, this can only be done with a Win98 PC and involves removing the HDD from the JB99 and connecting it as a slave HDD in a pc, with frequent updates this becomes a pain.
Why bother, well it's sheer convenience to be able to key a 4 digit song number into the unit and hit play - no searching through discs and fumbling through cd cases. CAVS have released the rack mount JB-199 which supports Network uploads, but at over $2000USD it's a lot more expensive than a rack mounted pc.

Behringer Ultra Graph Pro FBQ3102 Price
£100.00

A professional 31-band stereo graphic equalizer for both live and studio applications. Its amazing patent-pending FBQ Feedback Detection System instantly detects feedback frequencies and can also be used as an audio analyzer, making the FBQ3102 a welcome addition to every touring setup. Adding some extra oomph to your music is made easy with the dedicated mono subwoofer output with adjustable crossover frequency. You can effortlessly remove unwanted frequencies such as floor rumble and tape hiss by utilizing the additional sweepable high and low cut filters for each channel, and level setting is a snap with the highly accurate 12-digit LED input/output metering and input gain control. I'm using two of these units, one in each of the amplifier cases for the pro-sound and Numark amps. Initially the main (Numark Dimension 3) and backup (Prosound 1000W) amps were in the same case, due to the weight these were split out leaving a 2u spare slot now taken up by the FBQ3102's.
